Local cheerleader found dead at college

Danielle Cogswell, who went by"Dani," was found dead inside her apartment off campus near the University of Louisville on Monday morning, police said.

Cogswell graduated from Skyline High School in Sammamish in 2010. She was on the cheerleading squad that won the state championship in 2009.

Cogswell was 22 years old. She first attended Arizona State University then transferred to University of Louisville last year.

Word of her death spread quickly on campus. Cogswell is being remembered for her contagious smile, athletic ability and enthusiasm.

The school brought in counselors to help her teammates and friends.

“She will always be remembered for her smile and dedication to her team and her sport. I think that we all need to stand by each other and just be available for one another, “ said Christine Simatocolos, associate athletic director, University of Louisville.

Investigators don't know how Cogswell died. They are waiting for the results of the autopsy and toxicology tests.

Her friends are planning to remember her in Seattle Tuesday with a bon-fire at Alki Beach at 8:30 p.m.
