Legislation proposed for aerospace tax credit accountability

State Rep. June Robinson announced her bill to tie jobs to aerospace tax breaks.

RENTON, Wash. — Advocates met in Renton Monday morning to discuss legislation to bring accountability to aerospace tax credits.

Workers affected by job loss and aerospace worker leaders were  joined at the meeting by State Rep. June Robinson.

Robinson announced her bill to tie jobs to aerospace tax breaks.

Union leaders say Boeing has dropped its Washington State workforce by more than 3,000 since it received an $8.7 billion tax package in 2013.

A new statewide poll was also released at the meeting that reflected public attitudes toward the tax package and the continued export of engineering and other jobs despite Boeing's nearly $9 billion in subsidies.

A non-profit watchdog group called the $8.7 billion tax break the "biggest tax subsidy in U.S. history.”
