Kent shed fire spreads to home, displacing 4

A fire that began in a shed spread to a nearby home, causing damage that forced a family of four from the building.

KENT, Wash. — The fire was first reported at 9 a.m. Friday as a shed fire next to a home in the 31000 block of 152 Avenue Southeast.

When firefighters from District 44, the Kent Fire Department and Valley Regional Fire Authority arrived, they found that the fire had spread to the roof and attic of the house.

The fire was contained and was fully extinguished in less than an hour. Several holes in the roof and fire damage forced the family out of the home.

A neighbor's house also suffered a small amount of damage from the fire.

The Red Cross is helping the family of two adults and two children.

There were no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation
