Instant Pot warns customers of overheating, melting

Instant Pot is telling owners of one of its models to stop using the multicooker after receiving reports of units overheating, causing its base to melt.

The company said it has received “a small number of reports” of the problem with its Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker.

The problem is believed to be limited to five batch codes:  1728, 1730, 1731, 1734, and 1746.

Those who own the model should look for a silver label on the bottom of the cooker. The batch number is at the bottom right of that label.

Those who own the model with one of the effected batch numbers should stop using the cooker immediately.

We anticipate providing updated information and next steps regarding receiving a replacement Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker within the next few weeks, the company said on its Facebook page.

The company says it is working cooperatively with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
