• Fire breaks out at auto auction building near Boeing Field

TUKWILA, Wash. - Firefighters were called to a fire near Boeing Field in Tukwila Friday morning.

A building with a few dozen cars inside caught fire next to the Museum of Flight on East Marginal Way South about 4 a.m.

The fire occurred in one of the storage buildings at Insurance Auto Auctions, a company that takes wrecked cars from insurance companies and auctions them off twice a week.

A least 30 vehicles were inside and some of them were damaged by the fire.

Firefighters arrived to find flames coming through the roof of the long, narrow building.

Firefighters had to cut through a metal garage door to enter the building, but once they had access, they were able to quickly douse the flames.

No one was inside the building at the time the fire broke out and it’s not yet known what started the fire.

It is not yet known how much damage occurred.
