BELLEVUE, Wash. — A construction worker in his 50s suffered life-threatening injuries when equipment fell on him Thursday.
Fire officials said the shoring towers fell on the man just before 11 a.m. at the East Link construction site on Bellevue Way near the on-ramp to I-90.
Light rail construction on I-90 is part of the $3.7 billion East Link extension project that voters approved in 2008 to bring trains over the I-90 bridge to Mercer Island, Bellevue and the edge of Redmond.
The man was transported to a Seattle-area hospital, officials said.
Officials are warning drivers to keep the area clear.
