SEATTLE — Detectives are looking for any information that can help identify an armed robber who has been targeting restaurants and coffee shops in several Seattle neighborhoods.
Police said the armed robber has been targeting shops in Queen Anne, Wedgwood, Ravenna, Maple Leaf and Greenwood over the last three months.
The masked robber has walked into seven different shops and demanded money from employees while holding them at gunpoint right around closing time.
“When you’re in that situation, it’s really terrifying, and you don’t have time to think very much,” said Cassidy Ulrich, who quit her job at Mud Bugs Espresso to protect herself after she was robbed. “It was just a little too much, too much anxiety, so I didn’t want to risk that again.”
Investigators described the robber as a white man, 18 to 25 years old, and between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall.
Witnesses reported seeing the man arrive at or flee the scene in a dark green minivan equipped with a rooftop luggage rack.
In surveillance video from one of his robberies at a Subway, the suspect seems confident and aggressive. However, the clerk he robbed at Homegrown Sandwich Shop on Queen Anne said that was not always the case. Homegrown was the location of the first known robbery in February. The clerk said he seemed nervous.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any information is urged to call detectives at 206-684-5535.
