Tumwater teen charged with threatening to kill student

TUMWATER, Wash. — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with felony harassment, accused of threatening to kill another student at Tumwater High School.

Thurston County prosecutors said the 15-year-old had apparently had been involved in a long running dispute with a 14-year-old student.

At some point, he said he was going to shoot him with a gun, prosecutors said.

The teen was later arrested after he made comments during police questioning that he had thought about killing as many as 77 children, investigators said.

Prosecutors said the boy told officers he was considering saving up his money and getting a gun at Cabelas, but all he had was a pocket knife.

Authorities said the teen’s anger seemed to be focused primarily on the 14-year-old and he did not have a list of names.

Deputy prosecutor Wayne Graham said it does not appear the teen had specific plans or the weapons to carry out any attack.

He was charged with felony harassment in the threats against the 14-year-old.

He has undergone an evaluation, was released to his parents and ordered to have no contact with the other student involved in the case.

Tumwater High School confirms the student involved in the case has been "emergency" expelled.
