Man accused of stabbing his attorneys with pens and pencils begins murder trial

Joshua Monson

EVERETT, Washington — The man accused of stabbing not one, not two, but three of his lawyers is now on trial for murder, the charge that landed him in court in the first place.

The trial of 28-year-old Joshua Monson began Thursday.

KIRO 7 news partner The Daily Herald in Everett reported that Monson is wearing an electric cuff during his court appearances. That will allow officers to stun him if he has any more outbursts.

The second-degree murder charge stems from January 2011, when Monson is accused of shooting a man to death at his south Everett apartment.

Monson is also accused of stabbing two attorneys with pencils and a third with a pen.
