SEQUIM, Wash. — A community solar project is under consideration in Sequim, Wash.
Clallam County PUD is gauging public interest in the project. Officials say the project will only be constructed if there is “full customer interest” in funding the project.
Roughly 200 customers are already taking advantage of the Olympic rain shadow, using the sun’s resources to generate energy.

If constructed, Clallam PUD would be building the first local community solar project in Sequim.
The cost per unit would be $250 with a maximum of 40 units per customer.
Those who participate would receive a credit on their electric bill.
Interested customers are to sign up online by April 30, 2016.
A random drawing will determine which customers are afforded the opportunity to participate.
"This project gives customers who cannot afford a solar system on their home, or who may reside someplace where it is not possible to have solar, an opportunity to participate."
