SEATTLE — Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan announced a new parking program for hospital staff who are in the front lines of the COVID-19 response.
The Hospital Staff Parking permit program gives health care workers free on-street parking around hospitals and testing sites, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation.
“Our health care workers in Seattle are fighting hard for all of us during this challenging time and we need to do everything we can to make their jobs easier,” said Durkan.
The city, along with the Seattle Police Department and Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections, created and implemented a 30-day health care staff only permit for designated streets around hospitals and testing sites.
“We want to make sure that health care workers can focus on delivering care to those who need it most. No health care worker should spend an extra ounce of energy worrying about parking before they work a long shift to care for our community,” said Durkan.
The program will be initially available to staff at:
- Harborview Medical Center
- Kaiser Permanente
- Seattle Children’s Hospital
- Swedish Medical Center (Cherry Hill and First Hill campuses)
- Virginia Mason Medical Center
Temporary parking zones begin on Monday, March 30.
