Seattle Mariners fall to the Houston Astros in Game 1

The Seattle Mariners have fallen to the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the ALDS by a score of 8-7, after a 3-run walkoff home run by Yordan Alvarez.

Game 2 will be Thursday, Oct. 13, in Houston, at 12:37 p.m. Luis Castillo will start for Seattle, while lefty Framber Valdez will take the hill for the Astros.

Game 3 will be Saturday, Oct. 15, in Seattle, at 1:07 p.m. Lance McCullers will start for Houston; the Mariners have not revealed their probable starter for their postseason home opener.

Game 4, if necessary, will be Sunday, Oct. 16, in Seattle, at 12:07 p.m.

Game 5, if necessary, will be Monday, Oct. 17, in Houston, at 2:07 p.m., although that time is subject to change.

Logan Gilbert took the mound against the Astros’ Justin Verlander for Game 1 on Tuesday. Verlander hadn’t played a playoff game in almost three years.

Prior to Tuesday, the Mariners had faced Verlander six times this season, only winning once.
