Mabel Miller says she had just gone outside leaving her door unlocked and her alarm for a moment, when two men forced their way into her home and put a gun to her head.
“They pushed me. They was holding me, taking me through each room,” said Miller.
Miller, 72, said the men must have known she had money in the house before they invaded her University Place home on the morning of Friday Oct. 24. She said they shouted instructions at her, repeatedly demanding cash.
“They had a gun waving at me. They said, 'Ma’am we come here to get the dope money.' I said, 'I don’t do that kind of stuff.'”
The two tied her up with a telephone cord, one of them kicking her as they continued to demand money. Miller said one of the men held a gun to her head and tried to comfort her during the holdup.
“He was talking to me really nice, the one that had the gun on me,” said Miller. “He said ma’am just be quiet, don’t say anything. Just let us do what we got to do and I am not going to let him kill you.”
The men finally found a safe inside Miller's closet that held what she called a considerable amount of cash. They pried it loose then left.
Only one of the robbers wore a mask and police were able to produce this composite sketch based on Miller's description. She said the men may have known her grandson runs a legal marijuana sales business and came to her looking for his money.
“I was wondering why one had a mask on and one didn’t. Maybe, I’m saying, the one that had the mask on, I might know him,” said Miller
