SEATTLE — University of Washington Medicine researchers are launching a larger study to find treatments and cures for patients exposed to COVID-19.
The study involves enrolling people to determine whether a treatment combining a low dose of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin can prevent hospitalization and death in people with COVID-19, officials said.
Researchers are looking to enroll 2,000 outpatients at sites across the country who have tested positive.
UW Medicine said this study is separate from the smaller trial that involved enrolling 630 patients exposed to COVID-19.
Anyone who is an outpatient and was diagnosed with COVID-19 can call or text 206-773-7129, or email actu@uw.edu.
