Woman fatally shot near Coors Field in dispute over dog droppings

DENVER — A woman was fatally shot and her boyfriend injured after getting into a fight with a man over their dog's droppings near Coors Field.

Isabella Thallas, 21, was fatally shot and her boyfriend Darian Simon was shot twice but is expected to live, the Denver Post reported.

The couple was walking Simon’s dog when he told it to poop, the Post reported. That’s when they heard

Michael Close, 36, yell at them from his first-floor apartment. The couple ignored Close until Simon saw him pointing a gun. Simon thought it was a pellet gun until he heard the gunfire.

Police said Thallas died at the scene. A GoFundMe account was setup to pay for funeral costs.

Deputies apprehended Close after stopping him in his car on the highway. Police said a rifle was on the floor and a handgun was on the passenger seat.

Close was arrested and charged on suspicion of first-degree murder, the Post reported.
