Two housekeepers attacked; one found chained inside home, second found dead in burning vehicle, law enforcement says

CLEVELAND, Texas — Law enforcement officials are looking for a man after a woman was found chained to a bed at the man’s home Saturday in Cleveland, Texas. Another woman was found dead inside a burning car outside his home, The Associated Press reported.

Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said both women cleaned a home for Jose Marin Soriano, the person for whom they are now looking, the AP reported.

Deputies said Soriano called the women claiming he had revealing photos of one of them, the AP reported.

The victim who had been chained to the bed, called 9-1-1 and told deputies that Soriano held the pair at gunpoint, chained her to the bed and sexually assaulted her. Deputies found her ankle chained to the bed and a rope tied around her neck, KPRC reported.

The other woman ran from the home, crashed into the woods near the home and her car caught fire, KHOU reported.

Deputies found her body in the vehicle. Deputies said she was the person in the photos Soriano had, but officials do not know if she sent them to Soriano or if he took them, KPRC reported.

Investigators said the woman had also been shot, but officials haven’t announced the official cause of death, the AP reported.
