The asteroid, known as 2023 DZ2, will pass by Earth at around 17,426 mph, according to EarthSky.

The asteroid was first found by astronomers last month and has a diameter of between 144 and 325 feet. That makes 2023 DZ2 about three times the size of the asteroid that exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia, 10 years ago, blowing out windows in buildings.

The asteroid will remain about 107,500 miles from Earth at its closest pass, according to the Virtual Telescope Project.

Its closest approach will be at 3:51 p.m. EDT on Saturday, according to EarthSky.
