FAYETTE, Mo. — If you’re in the market for a unique home, there is one in Missouri that may be the one.
The home in Howard County has two bedrooms, two bathrooms with modern high-end finishings. It was renovated in 2005 with the supposed price tag of the work set at $1.5 million.
The home, however, is for sale for only $350,000.
It has 2465 square feet and comes with “traditional architecture and character,” according to the listing.
That character could be the functioning jail that is attached to the home.
You read that right.
The home was the residence of the county sheriff who apparently didn’t have a long commute to get to work.
The county jail, all nine cells and a booking room, was connected to the brick home, which was built in 1875.
The jail was first occupied in 1894, USA Today reported.
There is also a full basement under the home.
Realtor.com has posted the photos and you can take a look at the amenities yourself.
It had been listed on House of Brokers Realty, Inc but the listing has since been removed.
The home was sold on eBay at one time and the buyer restored it after subsequent sheriffs decided not to live at the location, USA Today reported.
The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
