The Consumer Product Safety Commission on Wednesday issued a voluntary recall for more than 240,000 of Yeti’s Rambler 20-ounce traveler mug, citing a risk of burns due to defective lids.
In a news release, the CPSC said the hazard was due to the lid’s magnet slider, which could eject hot contents and potentially cause injuries, including burns.
“The firm has received two reports of the magnetic slider on the Rambler 20 oz Travel Mug with Stronghold Lid being ejected after being sealed with hot liquid,” the CPSC said. “No injuries have been reported.”
According to the CPSC, the recall impacts about 241,500 items. It only includes the Yeti traveler mugs sold from October 2020 with the date code 34204010 printed on the bottom of the mug base.
The CPSC stated in its release that customers who purchased a recalled mug should immediately stop using it and visit the Yeti website for instructions on receiving a full refund.
Consumers can also call Yeti toll free at (833) 444-3151 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday to Friday, or email the company at productrecall@yeti.com.
