KING, N.C. — A juvenile died while participating in a bull-riding event at a North Carolina rodeo on Saturday, authorities said.
The juvenile — whose personal information was not released by authorities — was riding during a Rafter K Rodeo Company, LLC event in the city of King, north of Winston-Salem, when they went into cardiac arrest at about 8:24 p.m. EST, WFMY-TV reported.
Two emergency technicians at the site began performing life-saving measures until first responders from Stokes County arrived at the event, according to the television station.
The victim was taken to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead, WGHP-TV reported.
In a statement, Rafter K Rodeo expressed its condolences.
“Our sport is truly a family and we are so thankful for everyone that was there to help,” the company said. “We are thankful for our on-site EMTs, paramedics and law enforcement that work so hard to care for the cowboys. This is a tragic event and words cannot describe the pain felt by this loss.
“We ask everyone to come together and pray for his family for comfort and healing in this difficult time.”
