During what has been a slow few months at the box office due to the coronavirus pandemic, Disney rereleased Halloween classic “Hocus Pocus” at 2,570 theaters across the U.S.

The 1993 film earned $650,000 at cinemas nationwide on Friday alone, according to Variety, with most sales picked up at drive-in theaters. It earned about $40 million dollars in theaters when it first debuted 27 years ago.

“Hocus Pocus,” which had a $28 million budget, is expected to collect between $1 and $1.8 million through the weekend and position the movie as No. 2 at the box office, second to Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet.”

Disney-owned Freeform announced “Hocus Pocus” will air 14 times this fall during its “31 Nights of Halloween” programming. During a Thursday airing of the movie, Bette Midler, who stars in the flick as Winifred Sanderson, took to Twitter to live-tweet during the showing.

In March, director Adam Shankman announced that he will partner with Disney+ on the production of a “Hocus Pocus” sequel. It is unclear who will star in the film or when it will be released.
