‘The beauty of accessibility’: Model with Down syndrome featured on cover of Allure magazine

Ellie Goldstein started dancing when she was five years old but fell in love with the spotlight when she appeared in her school’s performance of “Jack and the Beanstalk.”

“When I was doing that play, it hit me [that I wanted to keep doing this]. I love to be seen,” Goldstein, 18, told Allure magazine.

The British model, who has Down syndrome, is the cover subject of Allure’s latest digital issue and the focus of the outlet’s second installment in its “The Beauty of Accessibility” series.

Goldstein made waves in the modeling community earlier this year when she landed a groundbreaking Gucci Beauty campaign, and the Ilford, Essex, native is never looking back.

“Ten years from now, I want to be all over the world,” she told Allure, adding, “When I saw [my picture] on Gucci Beauty’s Instagram, I thought, ‘Wow! Who is this? Is this me, or what?!’ My friends and family saw it. It felt very special to me.”

Goldstein’s Allure spread features playful shots that People magazine described as “a variety of soft beauty looks,” including her close-up cover photo featuring pastel blue eye shadow.

“(Goldstein) brings up everybody’s energy levels to a different kind of place. It’s just absolutely breathtaking and really quite moving to watch her in front of the camera,” Zoe Proctor, co-founder of Zebedee Management, told Allure.
