American Airlines is launching a wine delivery service.
Because alcohol is banned in many airplane cabins to help stop the spread of COVID-19, it’s adding up to a lot of unopened wine.
The airline will sell and ship bottles directly to people’s homes.
The program is called American Airlines Flagship Cellars. Customers can choose from curated collections of mixed wines, build their own custom box or buy a monthly subscription that includes three bottles for $99.
Prices for individual bottles range from $13 to $40.
American said the curated collection features ultra-premium wines hand-picked by a master sommelier and available at a lower price.
A team of wine experts reviews nearly 2,000 bottles a year for American’s wine program.
