Smart, 71, posted about her condition in an Instagram post on Thursday. The “Hacks” actress said she decided to speak publicly about her health because February is American Heart Month, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“February is American Heart Month — a time when the nation spotlights heart health, so it feels important to share with all of you that I’m recovering from a recent, successful heart procedure,” Smart wrote. “I am fortunate to have excellent professional care and support from family and friends while I continue to recuperate.”

“Please listen to your body and talk to your doctor -- I’m very glad I did,” Smart wrote.

Smart stars as legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance in the HBO series “Hacks.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, some departments in the show’s third season have paused production.

“We are so happy that our beloved Jean Smart’s heart procedure was successful and she’s on the mend. HBO Max and UTV send their well wishes,” HBO Max and Universal TV said in a joint statement.

Smart won Emmys as lead actress in a comedy role for “Hacks” in 2021 and 2022, Variety reported. She also won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award for her role and is nominated again this year for a SAG Award.

Smart also won an Emmy Award in a supporting role in the television sitcom “Samantha Who?” in 2008. She also won a pair of Emmys for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series in 2000 and 2001 on “Frasier.”

Smart also played the role of Charlene Frazier Stillfield on the comedy series “Designing Women” for five seasons from 1986 to 1991.
