SEATTLE — The Seattle Department of Transportation said the South Park Bridge was stuck and closed to traffic Monday morning. The bridge has since reopened.
The problem was the third since it opened in June. SDOT said the safety gates on the bridge were stuck.
SDOT reported the problem on its Twitter account at about 6 a.m. saying the bridge was "stuck." The problem was fixed about 45 minutes later.
The new bridge in South Seattle was stuck in the upright position last month because of a faulty transmission pump that needed to either be rebuilt or replaced.
Before that, the draw span of the $134 million bridge at 14th Avenue South and Cloverdale Street was stuck upright last summer for about an hour.
SDOT says the cause of Tuesday's failure is not yet known.
