OLYMPIA, Wash. — A bill that would create an Amber Alert system for mentally impaired adults has cleared a major hurdle.
The Senate overwhelmingly approved Bill 5264 Monday.
The Silver Alert system would be activated by the Washington State Patrol when an adult diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's disease is reported missing.
It would operate much in the same way as the Amber Alert system.
It now goes to the House for consideration.
