SEATTLE, Wash. — A Central District single mom tells KIRO 7 she is ready to move after a man broke into to her apartment Monday night.
Safia Hussein was home with her 3-year-old son when a man started banging on the door. He kicked it in, got inside the apartment and grabbed Hussein.
“Oh my God, oh my God. I speak Somali, I speak Somali. Oh my God, oh my God, “ screamed Hussein.
He put his hand over her mouth and told her to shut up. She says the man appeared to be reaching for a weapon.
“She’s scared. He was trying to get something. She don’t know if it was a gun or something like that, “ said Muse Abdallah, the victim’s cousin.
The man turned off the lights in the apartment.
When he let go of her hand for a minute, she scooped up her son and ran outside.
A neighbor walking a dog called 911.
The man, who had been wearing an orange construction t-shirt with a reflective stripe, ran away.
Police found his shirt outside.
Hussein doesn’t know if the man was after her or her belongings.
She doesn’t feel safe in her home and plans to move.
She hopes police can find her attacker.
