Seattle-area sunny weather: How long will it last?

How long will Seattle's sunny weather last? Are we going to break weather records? What are the best times for dog-walking weather?

You had questions and these are some answers that will hopefully help you plan your week. I'll have up-to-the-minute forecasts and doppler radar images tonight on KIRO 7 Eyewitness News starting at 5 p.m.

Q: How warm will it get this week?

A: Temperatures are climbing into the 80s around Seattle on Wednesday and Thursday. The forecast high on Wednesday is 82 degrees, and the forecast high on Thursday is 84 degrees. Temperatures fall back into the mid to low 70s on Friday.

Q: Are we going to break any records?

A: It definitely looks like it! Thursday will be our best bet at Sea-Tac. The record high that day is 81 degrees set back in 1998. The forecast high of 84 degrees would breeze past that.

Q: Is this early for 80 degree days?

A: Yes, this is about three weeks earlier than normal. On average, our first 80 degree day is May 23.

Q: Is the rain gone for good?

A: No, showers are back this weekend with the chance of some thunderstorms. At this point, Sunday looks like the wetter day for your weekend plans.

Q: Wasn’t April a pretty wet month?

A: Yes it was. In fact, this is the ninth wettest April on record with 4.81 inches of rainfall at Sea-Tac Airport. That's well above the average 2.71 inches we see during the month of April.

Q: What’s the best day to plan a picnic?

A: Wednesday and Thursday are looking great. You might want to find some shade during the afternoon though. Friday will also be comfortable with highs in the mid to low 70s. There will be some sun early in the day before clouds roll back in later Friday afternoon.

Q: Can I put off yard work until the weekend?

A: Sure, you might get wet though.

Q: When is the best dog-walking weather?

A: Wednesday through Friday will be your best bet.

Q: Should I plan to run in the morning or after work?

A: It depends on the temperatures you enjoy running in. If you prefer running in the 50s and 60s, then plan your run before work. If you like 80s and 70s, then lace up the running shoes after work.

Q: Is it too early to predict the Fourth of July?

A: Yes, it's too early to pin down the forecast. However, the long-range forecast is leaning toward a warmer and drier than average summer.
