WOODINVILLE, Wash. — A wrong-way driver on State Route 522 caused a King County Sheriff’s Office patrol car to crash and flip early Saturday morning.
Just after 1:00 a.m. Saturday, a 90s-model Burgundy Dodge pickup was driving the wrong way in an eastbound lane of State Route 522 near Northeast 195th Street.
A sergeant in a King County Sheriff’s Office patrol car swerved to avoid the wrong-way driver and crashed into a concrete barrier, according to a Washington State Patrol news release.
His car flipped and landed on its roof, a King County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said. The sergeant suffered a hand injury and medics transported him to Evergreen Hospital.
The driver in the pickup then took off. Police haven’t located the driver.
