Mountlake Terrace police investigate attempted luring incident

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. — A letter was sent home to many parents in the Edmonds School District warning them and their children about an attempted luring incident Friday afternoon.

A group of five Brier Terrace Middle School students were walking home when they were approached by a man in a hat standing next to a light blue mid-sized truck.

The man said he could give one of the students a lift home; but all refused. Then the man sped off in the truck.

The incident happened in an area along 39th Avenue West where students commonly walk because it is near two elementary schools as well as the middle school and Mountlake Terrace High School.

Anyone who has information on the incident is urged to contact the Mountlake Terrace Police Department at 425-670-8260.

School officials have been advised and the Edmonds School District sent out a letter warning parents about the incident.

FULL LETTER TO PARENTS:

Dear Brier Terrace Middle, Mountlake Terrace High, Brier and Cedar Way:

Please see the below information released by the City of Mountlake Terrace. We wanted to inform not only Brier Terrace Middle families, but families of schools in the immediate area in which it occurred. Please remind your student to walk to and from school with a fellow student whenever possible and to report any suspicious activities to a trusting adult immediately.
