People crawl to escape flying bullets on Capitol Hill

As many as 26 gunshots were fired.

SEATTLE — A shootout in a Capitol Hill parking lot had people crawling to escape the gunfire.

People inside a laundromat in a strip mall on 23rd Avenue dove for cover when they heard numerous shots fired Thursday night.

“Everyone in the laundromat got on the ground, then we crawled to the back of the laundromat, waited back there for a few minutes, got up and looked around then called 911,” said Clive Pontusson.

Witnesses said as many as 26 shots were fired.

No one was shot, but a car was riddled with gunshots.

The gunmen are still at large.
