Have you wondered if light rail is faster than driving to the airport during Thanksgiving week? Our Dave Wagner and Linzi Sheldon departed from the KIRO 7 studios in Belltown and make their way to Sea-Tac International Airport Friday night. Dave took the light rail, Linzi was in a car. Airport travel
- Busiest times at Sea-Tac Airport are 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m
- Worldwide travel alert for Americans has raised scrutiny for passengers and bags
- Airport officials say to arrive at least two hours before departure time
- Over Thanksgiving holiday, an average of 130,000 passengers per day expected
- Average airport traffic during summer months is 140,000 a day
Ferry travel
- Riders should plan ahead for heavy ferry traffic on most routes Thanksgiving weekend.
- Some routes will be on a holiday schedule on Thanksgiving.
- As of noon Wednesday, ferry traffic was stacking up in Edmonds with an estimated 1-hour wait for vehicles. Click here for all ferry delays.
- Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth, Edmonds/Kingston, Seattle/Bainbridge, Mukilteo/Clinton and Point Defiance/Tahlequah: The longest lines are expected westbound Wednesday afternoon and evening, Nov. 25, and eastbound Friday morning, Nov. 27.
- Reservations are recommended for the Port Townsend/Coupeville route.
