A neighbor tells KIRO 7 it’s a recurring issue at the school.
“It's aggravating, very frustrating,” said Mitch Tucker, who says he sees vandalism to the school or school grounds at least twice a month. “I've seen them quite a bit. I've stopped them from spray painting.”
Tucker says he sees different groups of teenagers and often hears them smashing beer bottles.
There is an Everett police officer assigned to the school, but the officer is there during school hours, not overnight. And that's when the vandalism happened.
School still went on as normal Tuesday, but the shattered glass and damage will cost about $5,000.
“I have two kids I send to school everyday and it's scary,” said Nubia Mabbutt, who lives near the school. “Our money is paying for this when kids come over here to have fun and vandalize the school.”
Police searched overnight using K-9s but didn't find the vandals and at this point, haven't identified them. If and when they are caught, Mabbutt knows what she wants done.
“I want them to be punished,” she said. “They need to pay for it, work for what they did.”
