Two men were able to rescue an overzealous dog from the White River in Auburn Sunday after it was swept away.
The men were at the river for the day when one the man’s dogs, Dozer, jumped in.
The Pit Bull went downstream about 200 yards and the man lost sight of his dog.
The owner said he thought his dog had drowned, but a few minutes later saw Dozer on a sand bar.
The wet, cold and tired dog appeared to be getting ready to jump back in the water, so the man and his friend fashioned a makeshift raft out of driftwood and shoelaces, Tim Perciful with Mountain View Fire said.
The man was able to cross the river and rescue his dog.
