BREMERTON, Wash. — The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. at the Baymont Inn in the 5600 block of Kitsap Way.
According to police, officers responded to a report of a large fight, but as officers were on their way, the report upgraded to a shooting. A driver in a vehicle had also fled the scene.
When police arrived, there were hundreds of people in the area. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound and a woman had been assaulted.
Smaller fights broke out while medics treated the victims. Officers from police agencies within Kitsap County assisted Bremerton police.
Authorities said an officer located the vehicle that fled the scene and tried to stop it but the vehicle continued driving.
As the officer pursued the vehicle, the vehicle crashed and the driver fled on foot. A K-9 unit with Bremerton police located the driver. He was arrested and booked into the Kitsap County Jail for felony eluding and driving under the influence.
Two people were arrested for interfering with police while they were getting aid to the shooting victim.
Police will continue to investigate the incident.
