Man dies after Everett shooting, suspect at large

EVERETT, Wash. — Everett police are searching for an armed suspect who shot and killed a man in the parking lot of the Arterra apartments in Everett Tuesday afternoon.

Officers said it’s unclear how or even if the two men knew each other and their connection to the apartment complex.

It was concerning for neighbors, even those who are aware of other shootings along West Casino Road.

“I don’t think I’ll stay here tonight,” a neighbor who identified himself as Jake said. “Luckily, I have an alternative location where I can sleep… hopefully, it’s a personal matter. I always feel a little more comfortable. When it’s random acts of violence you start to feel vulnerable.”

Everett police have not said what motive led the gunman to shoot and kill a Hispanic man around 4 p.m. in the back corner of the parking lot, close to State Route 526. They have not released any more identifying information about the victim.

The Snohomish County sheriff's helicopter helped K-9 units with the search but could not track down the shooter.

In March, Everett police responded to at least half a dozen shootings in the area along West Casino Road.

They have not responded to questions whether this shooting is gang-related.
