Seattle police are investigating after a woman was stabbed in a domestic violence attack in North Seattle Friday morning.

It happened at the Tressa Apartments near North 141st Street and Linden Avenue North.

Shortly before 5 a.m., emergency dispatchers began getting calls about a woman screaming for help.

Police said one caller reported she saw a woman in the building's hallway who had obvious injuries.

Officers arrived, found the victim and began giving her first aid until Seattle fire medics arrived.

The 24-year-old victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

A K-9 team was called to the scene to search for the suspect, who's believed to be the victim's ex-boyfriend.  Officers searched the area, but did not find the man.

KIRO 7 spoke with a woman who lives in the building who heard what she thought was the suspect running away from the scene.

"I didn't get up to look because it was scary to hear somebody say 'Get out the way,' like that and then open one of those doors," the neighbor said.

Investigators continue to follow up on leads in an effort to find the suspect.
