Woman dies in early morning Seattle collision

SEATTLE — A single-car collision claimed the life of a 34-year-old woman in Seattle early Friday morning.

Around 2:20 a.m., Seattle police responded to a call of a car collision near 15th Avenue West and West Garfield Street in Interbay.

The driver of an SUV was driving northbound on 15th Avenue West and crossed into the southbound lanes and up onto the sidewalk.

Police said she struck and knocked over a power pole, then crashed into a fence.

Seattle Fire Department medics attempted life-saving measures, but the 34-year-old driver died at the scene.

A front seat passenger told police she believed the driver had a medical emergency at the time of the collision.

A cause of death is yet to be determined and detectives will continue their investigation.
