BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue Police Chief Steve Mylett attended a Black Lives Matter demonstration Sunday after he was invited by local organizers.
The police department released a clip of Mylett in attendance and showed him talking to some of the organizers.
“So please continue doing what you’re doing. We’re listening. We’re learning. We’re growing as a police department and we’re responding,” Mylett said.
A protester in attendance thanked Mylett for showing up and having a face-to-face conversation.
“Now you’re personally involved and engaged. And having that in the police department and (in) the community is what we’re looking for,” the protester said.
