SEATTLE — University of Washington All-American safety Taylor Rapp is forgoing his remaining eligibility and has declared for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Rapp, a junior from Sehome High School in Bellingham, was forced to sit out of the Huskies' 28-23 Rose Bowl loss to Ohio State after injuring his hip in the Apple Cup.

"It's pretty disappointing," Rapp told Adam Jude, of The Seattle Times, after the game. "I'm more disappointed for the seniors and for everyone who didn't go out the right way. Obviously, I feel like being not being out there — it's just very disappointing."

In 40 career games at UW, Rapp recorded 171 total tackles, seven sacks and seven interceptions.

Rapp was named a first-team All Pac-12 selection and a second-team AP All-American for this season.

"Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of playing in the National Football League," Rapp said, in part, in an announcement on his Instagram. "Now, with this incredible opportunity in front of me, I feel it is in my best interest to seize it."
