KENT, Wash. — The Maple Valley Fire Department said a husband and wife were found dead after a fire in a mobile home Monday morning.
The fire happened in the 800 block of West Valley Highway South in Kent.
Fire officials said a friend, who was staying with the couple, had left the home when he noticed smoke coming from the rear of the home.
As the friend called 911, flames ripped through the home.
Fire officials said the husband had just pulled up to the home and when he saw the fire, he realized his wife was still inside. He quickly ran inside.
Puget Sound fire said the first firefighters to arrive reported heavy flames.
Once the fire was out, the bodies of the couple were found in the rear end of the home. Fire officials said they died from smoke and heat.
