Customers across the country searching for Expedia's phone number on the internet are being taken for a ride.
Scammers are creating ads with fake phone numbers for the travel company.
When customers call the numbers, the scammers tell them the site is "down" and that to get a refund or change bookings, they'll need to pay first with gift cards.
