PORT ANGELES, Wash. — A teen who fell 100 feet down a bluff Wednesday afternoon in Port Angeles is recovering at a hospital in Seattle, according to a report from The Peninsula Daily News.
First responders and a Coast Guard spokesperson told the newspaper that the 14-year-old girl was flown by helicopter to the Harborview Medical Center after falling from the bluff known as “The End of the World.”
That bluff is located at the end of 10th Street, which is west of the McKinley Paper Co. mill.
According to the newspaper, a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew pulled the girl up in a stokes basket and took her to the air station at Ediz Hook. She was then taken to Fairchild International Airport and finally flown to Harborview.
The teen reportedly suffered an injury to an extremity, however, the extent of any possible internal injuries is unknown.
The teen’s identity has not been released yet, but she is said to be a Stevens Middle School student, according to the newspaper, which received an email from the girl’s school.
