SEATTLE — Oracle is laying off almost 500 employees in Washington.
Oracle is a global tech company that specializes in enterprise software, database management systems, and cloud computing infrastructure.
The Washington State Employment Security Department says it received a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) on Tuesday from the company about the job cuts.
It says that 491 employees will be laid off starting June 1.
The layoffs in Seattle mostly impact employees at two Oracle offices in downtown Seattle, according to the filing.
Oracle used to have an office in Bellevue, but scaled back about two years ago.
Staff from the local Rapid Response team and WorkSource will contact employees of the organization to ease their transition.
