In an extra effort to notify residents who may have been exposed to high levels of lead in their water, Tacoma Public Utility crews went door-to-door on Saturday, knocking on the doors of residents who haven’t responded to previous notifications.

Tacoma Water sent roughly 1,700 letters out to homes and businesses that may have lead goosenecks earlier this week.
"Mailing letters was a good first step," said Tacoma Public Utilities Deputy Superintendent Chris McMeen in a press release Friday. "Going door-to-door will help ensure notification for customers who have not have received or read the letter."
A crew of 20 began around 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The utility crews finished once everyone on the list had been notified.
