Study: ‘Die Hard’ most popular Christmas movie in Washington

Map of most popular Christmas movies by state

Despite the ongoing debate about whether “Die Hard” is really a Christmas movie, Washington residents say the action flick is their favorite.

That’s according to a study by Comparitech, which used data from IMDB and Google Trends to find the most popular Christmas movies by state.

Some states, such as Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, chose movies with a traditional holiday theme, such as “Elf,” “I’ll be home for Christmas,” and “The Santa Clause,” respectively.

Others, such as California, chose movies without overt holiday themes, such as “Edward Scissorhands.”

And it may not be surprising that Nevada, which is home to “Sin City” Las Vegas, chose “Bad Santa,” as its favorite.

Only Maine and Wisconsin chose the 1946 classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
