Deputies shoot, injure man running through traffic in Burien who claimed he had gun

BURIEN, Wash. — King County Sheriff’s deputies spent most of Tuesday at the scene of an officer-involved shooting in Burien.

At about 10:22 a.m. Tuesday, Burien police responded to a report of a man running into traffic at South 160th and First Avenue South.

Responding officers found a man in traffic, who said he had a gun, according to the Burien Police Department.

Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation with non-lethal tools, but the man became increasingly aggressive and he was shot by deputies, according to the Valley Independent Investigative Team.

Multiple witnesses reported hearing four gunshots before the man fell to the ground.

Officers provided first aid until medics arrived, and the man was transported to a hospital. His condition is not known.

No officers were injured in the incident.

The Valley Investigative Team is leading the investigation.
