Music programs at Seattle Public Schools received a substantial boost Wednesday in the form of $100,000 worth of new instruments.

Yamaha Corporation of America donated percussion and wind instruments that will benefit more than 1,300 students at nine schools across the district.

“This donation is greatly appreciated by the Nathan Hale Music Department. These new instruments allow for the students to succeed without having the instrument being an extra challenge,” says Katrina Sibicky, the band and orchestra director at Nathan Hale High School.

The donation will allow thriving music programs to continue to grow, according to a press release from Seattle Public Schools.

“Supporting music education has always been at the heart of everything we do at Yamaha. Music programs provide a springboard for academic and personal success, and we are dedicated to providing substantial tools to music teachers so they can continue to support young musicians’ future success in life,” said Lisa Steele-MacDonald, director of marketing at Yamaha Corporation of America.
