School zones especially busy in South King County

TUKWILA, Wash. — School zones are especially busy in South King County.

Between the airport, Boeing and Southcenter — to name just a few — there are a lot of hotspots in the area.

Now that kids are headed back to school, you can expect a lot of delays — more than what you’re already seeing — very soon.

Bob Pishue, a transportation analyst from INRIX, analyzed data from over 700 schools around Seattle. He found the top five school zones with the most delays in South King County.

“In South King County, the top five schools in terms of concentrated delays on the road network, the first was Tukwila Elementary, second was Foster Senior High School (Tukwila), Illahee Middle School (Federal Way) came in third, Highline High School (Burien) was fourth, and Kent Elementary was fifth,” said Pishue.

Pishue said there are a couple of high schools on the list and believes that there are more solo drivers in the area with high school kids driving to school, adding more traffic to what we see daily.
