Researchers looking at why Seattle has high rate of children with asthma

SEATTLE — Researchers will be taking a look at why some parts of Seattle have high asthma rates among children.

The University of Washington and the Duwamish River Community Coalition are working together. They’re focusing on the South Park and Georgetown neighborhoods, which have historically poor air quality compared to the rest of the city.

According to the Seattle Times, one idea is to distribute about 80 box fan filters among homes where children struggle with asthma. Those are set to arrive later this year.
